Committees

These DFA-Marin Committees welcome new volunteers. Please contact the
chair of the committee that interests you for more information on how
you might help.
Take Back Red California
Marin County progressive Democrats have joined together in this
committee to make contacts with Democratic Party activists in
Republican Congressional Districts and red counties. The goal is
to develop personal relationships with rural Democrats, work under the direction of their local leaders to support candidates, and achieve Democratic victories.
Chair, Mayme Hubert maymehubert@att.net
MeetUp
This critical committee plans the agenda, puts together the handouts,
and organizes the logistics for each monthly meeting. We need creative, organized people on the committee who have a special interest in building our progressive community.
Co-chairs, Cristine Dewey abcdewey@comcast.net and Marjie Sturtevant

DFA-Marin Corps
This committee organizes DFA members to participate in community
service projects with local nonprofits, such as environmental groups
and organizations that provide services to low income Marin residents.

Membership
This committee is the welcoming face of DFA-Marin; a first contact with
the organization. Its role is to build membership, distribute
information and help volunteers find a place in DFA.
Chair, RoyAnne Florence rfsails@pacbell.net
Progressive Groups Liaison
A committee that attends meetings of other progressive groups and
establishes relationships with key individuals within the groups. Our
goal is to facilitate solid coordination among groups in the 2006
election year.
Chair, Dolly Verrue Dolly.Verrue@hotmail.com
Election Reform
Our Election Reform Committee is dedicated to ensuring that Marin
County's voting systems have transparency from the moment a person
registers through to final tabulation of the vote. Our mission is to
educate, demonstrate and legislate, and we are a founding member of the
California Election Protection Network–over 29 citizen organizations across California–working together to achieve our common election integrity goals.
Chair, Sherry Healy sherry@califelectprotect.net
Media Reform
This committee will work toward media reform that would require more
diverse ownership of public airwaves, more diverse viewpoints in print
media, and changes in telecommunication laws. Local issues will also be addressed.
Chair, Jay Hubert j-mhubert@att.net
Data Base
A large, functioning political group such as DFA-Marin needs a quick
and dependable way to communicate with its membership; this is the
work of the Data Base Committee. We need computer wonks as well as
non-technical volunteers to help with (easy) updating.
Chair, Leon Kunstenaar kunstena@comcast.net
Environmental Health
A clear priority of DFA should be a bold attack on destructive
Republican environmental policies. This committee will network with
major environmental organizations to develop a clear uncompromising
position on these issues.
Chair, Dr. Larry Rose larryrosemd@comcast.net
Web Site
The committee works to provide relevant information as effectively, accurately and concisely as possible in both a technical and artistic manner. We need technical volunteers to help with functionality of forms, blogging and general back end issues. All constructive feedback is welcome.

help with campaign training, consultants and other tools geared toward
empowering local candidates.

Events and Fundraising
This committee produces local political events and fundraisers - from
panel discussions with electeds to local political fairs. It is an
important way to reach out into the community and raise awareness as
well as funds.
